Poetry Happy Hour Featuring Jamie-Lee Morris

April 14, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

About the Event

Gotahold Brewing has chosen the Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) as their #TipsforTransformation benefactor for April 2022. Poetry Happy Hours will be held at 5:30 pm every Thursday in April in the beer garden at Gotahold. The events will benefit the WCDH scholarship fund and celebrate National Poetry Month. On Thursday, April 14, at 5:30 pm Jamie-Lee Morris will inspire the audience with her poetry.

Jamie-Lee Elizabeth Morris is a writer, poet and spoken word artist. She is a 2nd generation Cincinnati native who takes great pride in her Jamaican heritage. The wealth of insight Jamie-Lee has gained from her experiences has helped shape who she is as a writer. She is as passionate about her writing and artistry as she is about mental health advocacy. She believes storytelling provides the strength needed to survive day to day. Her inspiration to write comes from her own personal growth as well the ancestors who paved the way for her. Throughout Jamie-Lee Elizabeth’s life she has grown to understand how essential self-care is to survival. Though women rarely receive the time to take care of themselves, she views it less as a luxury and more as the fuel to her creativity. Learning to take some time to reevaluate, live in the present and envision where she sees her future has been beneficial to her artistry.

Gotahold Brewing is located at 408 W Van Buren in Eureka Springs. Opened in 2020 by Wendy Reese Hartman and Dave Hartman, their mission is to change customers’ perception of beer while inspiring deeper connection, compassion, and positive action in our world. Visit them at https://gotahold.beer.

The WCDH scholarship fund was developed in December 2019 to assist emerging writers and those from marginalized communities who need financial aid to benefit from a writing residency at Dairy Hollow. Over $17,000 in support has been provided to 40 writers for more than 300 residency nights. Scholarships are awarded on an as-needed basis depending on availability.
