The Gentle Art of Seeing at Mainstage Creative Community Center

The Gentle Art of Seeing is the first joint show of Drew and Mary Gentle. Both artists bring their unique
perspectives and a common vision to this exhibition.
Drew was raised in Los Angeles and worked as an Artist Assistant to his father, Robert Gentle, at Hanna-
Barbera Studios. He worked for over 40 years as a conceptual designer and storyboard art director for
multiple studios including Hanna-Barbera, Disney, and Warner Brothers. Drew retired from animation in
2007 and began a second career creating fine art. He now lives in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where he
met his wife, Mary.
Mary, a writer and poet, was inspired to connect with visual art when Drew turned her loose with his art
supplies ten years ago. She continues to explore various media. She worked first in oil, then encaustic,
gouache, and collage.
While Drew’s works in abstracted figurative personas represent the inner world of the human psyche,
Mary’s work is inspired by the rhythms and cycles in nature and wildlife.
Both are happy to call Eureka Springs home, where they encourage each other to pursue their unique
artistic visions.
The Gentle Art of Seeing can be visited at Mainstage Creative Community Center, 67 North Main Street
in Eureka Springs, this Labor Day Weekend, September 1 st through 4 th . An Artist Reception will be held
on Friday, September 1 st from 5 pm to 8pm. The exhibition continues Saturday and Sunday from 11 am
to 5pm and Monday from 11 am to 2pm.
